MotherTouch™ Massage & Bodywork Classes

Advanced Bodywork for Women's Health

BODYWORK FOR WOMEN’S HEALTH TRAINING

MotherTouch approaches women's health from a holistic perspective, recognizing that our concerns are multi-dimensional. Illnesses and complaints may develop from physical imbalances, postural influences, accidents, surgeries,  pregnancy and births. But underlying many women's complaints is the impact of living in a society with mores that ignore or suppress women's power and reduce a connection to  women's pelvic potential. Political legislation impacts health options, religious guidelines often represses our sensual-sexual natures, and rampant sexual abuse and discrimination has a deep affect on our psyches and health. MotherTouch teaches advanced manual therapy skills that respect, nurture and support women's bodies-minds-spirits in a world that breeds amnesia and disconnect.

Using a variety of manual therapy techniques including subtle energetic approaches, myofascial release, Swedish massage, visceral listening, acupressure, and deep respect and care, we address women's health concerns including fertility, menstrual and menopause challenges, pelvic pain and imbalance, and  breast health.

A student speaks about her experience in the Bodywork for the New Mother class: "Warmth. Safety. Belonging.  Wholeness. These sensations and emotions flooded through me as I experienced the “closing of the bones” ceremony. Healing. Completeness. Power. Trust.  The emotions enveloped me like the blanket that wrapped tightly around me; I was cocooned with the unity of sisterhood that we all share. The women lifted me gently in the blanket womb and began rocking me. I could feel their collective strength as they rocked reassuringly.  Carrying me.  Sharing their united womanhood and sealing it up inside me. When the blanket cocoon was opened I had metamorphasized.  I came out a stronger woman." M.Y. (Maternity Massage student)
